The Wichita Thunder have announced that they have signed 5’10” forward Tyrone Bronte for the 2025-26 season.
Junior Career
Bronte came to North America in the 2017-18 season, appearing in three games with the Omaha Lancers of the USHL before moving to the NAHL. He spent the rest of his junior career with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, where he posted 41 goals and 75 assists for 116 points in 155 games. He also recorded 95 penalty minutes and a +31 rating. In 10 playoff appearances, Bronte added three goals and three assists with a +3 rating. He captained the Knights during his final season.
College Career
Bronte began his collegiate career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville, playing one season before the school eliminated its Division I hockey program. He transferred to Michigan Tech, where he finished his NCAA career. Across 116 games with the Huskies, Bronte registered 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points, adding 49 penalty minutes and a -6 rating. He earned WCHA All-Rookie Team honors in 2020-21.
Professional Career
After college, Bronte launched his professional career overseas, signing with KHL Sisak of the AlpsHL in Croatia for the 2024-25 season. He produced 22 goals and 43 assists for 65 points in 47 games, while adding 30 penalty minutes. In seven playoff games, he tallied 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points.
Bronte then returned to Australia to close out 2024-25 with the Melbourne Ice of the AIHL. In 17 games, he scored 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points, with eight penalty minutes. In two playoff games, he added two goals and four assists.
What He Brings to Wichita
Bronte has proven his ability to generate offense, whether finishing chances himself or creating opportunities for teammates. After a year overseas, he may need time to adjust back to the North American game and the ECHL’s pace, but his skill set positions him to make an immediate impact with the Thunder.
