The Toledo Walleye have announced the return of forward Will Hillman, who has agreed to terms for the 2025-26 ECHL season. After joining the team late last year, Hillman now sets his sights on a full season in Walleye blue.

A Taste of the Pros

Hillman made his professional debut with the Walleye at the end of the 2024-25 season. In a limited five-game regular season stint, the 6’2” center picked up one assist. He followed that up with 10 playoff appearances, notching another assist as Toledo pushed through the postseason. While the numbers don’t tell the whole story, Hillman’s presence added size and reliability down the middle.

Steady Collegiate Career

Before turning pro, Hillman played four years at Minnesota State University–Mankato, where he became known for his responsible two-way game. In 115 collegiate games as a Maverick, he tallied 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists), 39 penalty minutes, and a +19 rating. He also earned CCHA All-Academic honors twice—highlighting his commitment on and off the ice.

During his senior season in 2024-25, Hillman posted nine points (3G, 6A) and a +7 rating in 39 games. His solid play helped anchor Minnesota State’s lineup and earned him a look from Toledo down the stretch.

Looking Ahead

Hillman enters this season with something to prove and a full year to do it. With his blend of size, smarts, and defensive awareness, he has the potential to become a valuable depth option for the Walleye in the center position. The upcoming year offers a chance to build confidence, consistency, and offensive production.

Hillman and the Walleye will open their 2025-26 campaign on the road against the Indy Fuel on Saturday, October 18th, 2025. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM EDT at the Fishers Event Center as Toledo takes on Indy to kick off what promises to be a highly competitive season.
