The Worcester Railers have announced that they’ve acquired forward Mark Cheremeta from the Orlando Solar Bears in exchange for future considerations. Chermeta, 25, is now on his third team in his rookie season, as he’s spent time with the Kalamazoo Wings, Orlando Solar Bears, and now the Worcester Railers. This is the second time he’s been traded in the past two weeks. Chermeta has one goal and two assists for three points in 18 games this season; all of his points came during his time in Kalamazoo. I would expect him to slot in on the bottom six for the Railers.
Prior to going pro, the Belarus native spent five seasons in the NCAA as he spent time at Boston University, Ohio State University, and Sacred Heart University, putting up 11 goals and 35 assists for 46 points in 112 NCAA games. Chermeta also also spent time in the USHL and NCDC. In his only year in the NCDC, he would put up 18 goals and 41 assists for 59 points in 50 games with the Islanders Hockey Club as they went on to win the NCDC Championship. Cheremeta would spend parts of two seasons in the USHL as he played in three games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, where he put up one goal during the 2016-17 season, and then would play 48 games with the Dubuque Fighting Saints during the 2019-20 season where he had 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points. During his time with the Fighting Saints, he would play alongside current Railer Matthew Kopperud.
