The Worcester Railers have announced that they’ve re-signed forward Matt DeMelis for the 2025-26 season. In his rookie season with the Railers, he put up nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points in 60 games. He was one of the least penalized players on the Railers with just four penalty minutes last season. This has been a trend, as the last time he had 10+ PIMS in a season was in 2017-18. DeMelis is the seventh forward and tenth player signed for the 2025-26 season

Prior to going pro, DeMelis spent parts of three seasons in the USHL and NAHL. In 57 games with the Northeast Generals (NAHL), he put up 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points. DeMelis would add two goals and an assist in five playoff games. In the USHL, he would put up 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points in 58 games. He also played two games with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. He also saw action in two playoff games, but couldn’t find the score sheet.

“I’m extremely excited,” DeMelis said. “You can see from all of the guys that are returning how much people want to be there. I think it’s going to be an exciting time next year and I can’t wait to get back.”
