The Worcester Railers have added to their roster in the name of long-time journeyman John Muse. The goaltender proved to be a force of nature last season for the Railers. The organization is ready to get Muse going for the season. Muse looks to improve the team as his professional days seem to be dwindling with age.
Muse, the team MVP, has plenty of accolades to his name, showing he is the support the team needs in the net to sustain a long playoff run. Muse played in 30 games, with the Railers going 15-12-2 with a 2.77 GAA, .911SV%, and two shutouts. His goals-against average was 12th in the ECHL.
“The organization is top-notch,” Muse said. “It’s by far one of the best organizations I’ve been a part of in my entire professional career. Ownership wants to win, and I think that goes by the wayside with a lot of minor league teams. I looked at that and took that into consideration. Being close to home and to family is a plus as well.”
Muse on returning to the Railers
The Railers weren’t the only team in the ECHL that Muse excelled with, as he also played for the Florida Everblades. He was the Kelly Cup Playoff MVP for the 2011-12 season. During the playoffs, he had a 1.78 goals-against average. He also had a save percentage of .939 in 13 games played during that run.
The Railers could not have gotten a better man and player. Muse is the brick wall and staple in net that the Worcester Railers have been looking for. All signs point up for the Railers as an organization. The city is desperately looking for a playoff berth, and the organization is making the correct moves to get that done.
