The Worcester Railers have added to their defensive offseason signings by bringing back rookie defenseman Ryan Dickinson to pair with long-time Railer Connor Welsh. This will be a smart re-signing for the Worcester Railers, as this will be Ryan Dickinson’s first full professional season.
Ryan Dickinson played just 21 games for the Railers during the 2023-24 campaign after coming over from SUNY-Oswego, putting up eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points in 65 games. Dickinson began playing college hockey with the Ohio State Buckeyes, playing in 14 games while putting up just one assist. The 6’3, 205lb defenseman would be tied among Laker defensemen in assists (10) and led all blueliners in points (11)
Prior to college, he played four seasons in the North American Hockey League, playing for the Topeka Roadrunners, Brookings Blizzard, and Shreveport Mudbugs, where he put up 10 goals and 50 assists for 60 points in 192 points.
“I’m really grateful for everyone in Worcester, both the organization and the fans,” Dickinson said. “Everyone made me feel like family from day one, so getting to come back, I really didn’t have to think about it.”
-Dickinson on Re-Signing with the Railers for the 2024-25 season
Dickinson becomes the 12th off-season signing for the Worcester Railers. He is just the third defenseman added to pair nicely with Connor Welsh. The 24-year-old defenseman will certainly bring some physicality to the Railers as he led the USPHL in penalty minutes during the 2015-16 season, picking up 101 penalty minutes in just 29 games.
