ECHL: Worcester Railers Sign Gilmour, Lose Dudek To EIHL

The Worcester Railers announced their third signing of the offseason, as they’ve added Tyson Gilmour to the roster. However, that wouldn’t be the only news for Railers fans on Friday, as defenseman Connor Welsh and J.D. Dudek both signed deals overseas for the 2025-26 season.

Gilmour Signs With Worcester Railers

Gilmour, 26, spent the majority of the 2024-25 season in the SPHL with the Evansville Thunderbirds where he put 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in 50 games. He would add four goals and an assist for five points in seven playoff games as the Thunderbirds went on to win the President’s Cup. The East York, Ontario native would also make his ECHL debut last season as he played in three games with the Maine Mariners.

“Tyson is a big heavy two-way player,” Tuzzolino said. “His playstyle was a very important part of Evansville’s SPHL championship run. I’m hoping that he can bring that hard nose hockey and that experience to our culture this year.”

Prior to playing in the SPHL, Gilmour played four years at SUNY-Geneseo where he put up 31 goals and 62 assists for 93 points in 103 games. The Knights would win two SUNYAC Championships during Gilmour’s time there. Gilmour would break into the SPHL at the end of the 2023-24 season, playing three games with the Fayetteville Marksmen and Peoria Rivermen where he would put up three assists in six games.

Dudek Heads Overseas

Worcester Railers forward J.D. Dudek is heading back overseas to the EIHL after putting up three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 38 games last season. Dudek had spent part of the 2022-23 and 2023-24 season in the EIHL with the Coventry Blaze where he put up 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points in 77 games. This time around Dudek will join the Manchester Storm. He’s also spend parts of two seasons in Sweden where he put up 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points in 30 games.

The Aubrun, New Hampshire, native had three goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 38 games this season with Worcester. This was Dudek’s third stint with the Railers over the course of his ECHL career, as he has five goals and 20 assists for 25 points as a member of the Railers. The 29-year-old forward also played in 42 games with the Allen Americans during the 2021-22 season.
