The Maine Mariners have announced that they have re-signed forward Xander Lamppa for the 2024-25 season. Lamppa signed with the Mariners on March 15th and played in 16 games with Maine at the end of the regular season, putting up three goals and five assists for eight points. He would add two assists for the Mariners, playing in all seven games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Heading into next season, expect Lamppa to be a guy who will fit in nicely for the Mariners in their middle six.
“The guys, the coaches, everyone in the organization was extremely friendly and supportive,” said Lamppa about his experience in Maine. “The fans, the rink, the facility, the housing. I liked it all and I feel like I’d be missing out if I didn’t come back.”- Lamppa on re-signing with the Mariners (Via Maine Mariners Press Release)
Prior to joining the Mariners, Lamppa spent two years in the USHL with the Waterloo Blackhawks, putting up 22 goals and 49 assists for 71 points in 107 games and led the Blackhawks in assists (30) and points (45) during the 2019-20 season. The 24-year-old forward would then play four seasons at Penn State, where he put up 12 goals and 33 assists for 45 points in 114 games and wore an “A” in his final collegiate season. Lamppa wasn’t known for his scoring touch at Penn State, scoring just three goals in 36 games during his senior season, but he matched that total in his short time with the Mariners. The Minnesota native is the sixth signing for the Mariners and the second player from Penn State to sign with Maine, joining Christian Berger.
