The Adirondack Thunder have announced that Zach Walker has stepped away from his playing days and joined the team’s front office. Walker will oversee the team’s community relations and assist in sales and marketing for Cool Insuring Arena, the home of the Adirondack Thunder. He has been seen at numerous off-ice events for Adirondack and will continue to be a big part of the community aspect that the Thunder bring to the Glens Falls area.
The 26-year-old would spend three seasons in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads and Adirondack Thunder, putting up 19 goals and 35 assists for 54 points in 146 regular season games. He would add one goal and five assists for six points in 20 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games. The Boise, Idaho native struggled with injuries in his only year with Adirondack, which limited him to only 27 games, where he put up three goals and 10 assists for 13 points.
“After getting to know Zach throughout the last year, and knowing he was looking to step away from the ice, it made sense to add Zach to our front office staff,” said Team President Jeff Mead. “He will contribute to our team and arena in a number of ways; and I’m looking forward to seeing Zach become an integral part of our team and community.”

Prior to playing in the ECHL, Walker spent four years at Boston College, where he put up three goals and 15 assists for 18 points in 113 NCAA games as the Terriers would win two regular season Hockey East Championships while Walker was there. Once finishing up his collegiate career, he would spend a year in the SPHL with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, where he put up four goals and six assists for 10 points as the Ice Flyers would win an SPHL Championship in 2021.
