Bloomington Bison defenseman Zack Hoffman is heading overseas to England to join the Guildford Flames of the EIHL. He had three goals and four assists for seven points in 32 games with the Rapid City Rush. Since being traded to Bloomington on January 5th, he’s put up three assists in 17 games. The Newcastle, Ontario native is just the second player this season to take the overseas route, joining goaltender Mark Sinclair. This comes just three days after the overseas deadline/IIHF transfer deadline. Bloomington went out and signed two defensemen yesterday in, Renat Dadadzhanov and C.J. Valerian, who made their Bison debuts last night.

The 27-year-old defenseman has spent the last three seasons in the ECHL with the Wichita Thunder, Rapid City Rush, and Bloomington Bison. He’s put up six goals and 23 assists for 29 points in 172 games. Prior to joining the ECHL, Hoffman played two seasons in USports with St. Mary’s University, where he put up a goal and three assists for four points in 32 games. All of his points came during the 2021-22 season. He would join the SPHL’s Fayetteville Marksmen at the end of the 2021-22 season, where he had a goal and four assists for five points in 25 games. In his only season in the CCHL with the Utah Outliers, before he headed to USports, he put up 11 goals and 33 assists for 44 points in 62 games. Hoffman’s 33 assists led the team. He would be named MVP and Defenseman of the Year as well.
