Standout defensemen from the Worcester Railers this past season is heading overseas. With the Worcester Railers the defensemen was a staple for the squad. He participated in 63 games with the team, contributing two goals and 13 assists, for a total of 15 points.

The Nottingham Panthers have announced the signing of Hungarian international defenseman Zsombor Garát. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch, the blueliner has represented Hungary in 40 matches during World Championship tournaments and Olympic Qualifiers, boasting experience from both European and North American leagues. At 27 years old, Garát has previously played at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena, where he was part of the Hungarian team that defeated Great Britain in the Olympic Qualifiers in February 2020. After becoming professional in the 2018-19 season, Garát competed in Slovakia’s top league and the Erste Liga before heading to North America last season.

Fans will have the opportunity to witness Zsombor Garát in action with the Panthers for the first time during Sunday’s Elite League home opener against the Fife Flyers. The Worcester Railers will miss the person and player Zsombor Garát is. It’s hard for any team to pick up the slack from losing a player like that.

The team is setting its sights on the 2024-25 season. The Railers will begin their preseason at home, away from the DCU Center, on October 12th at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. The club looks to get off to a hot start right out of the gate, as this is essential for achieving their Kelly Cup goals.
