The Edmonton Oilers needed blue-line help even after adding John Klingberg earlier this season and tonight they got that. The Oilers are acquiring defenseman Jake Walman from the San Jose Sharks. The Oilers are sending a conditional first-round pick and a prospect to San Jose. If the first in 2026 is in the top 12, they can instead transfer their 2027 first pick to San Jose. If it’s their 2027 first before the 2026 trade deadline, the 2026 first goes to SJ unconditionally. Sounds like the Oilers may be taking the full cap hit sounds like Evander Kane to LTIR and Edmonton using that cap space.
