The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with two unrestricted free agents. Lane Pederson was a Group six unrestricted free agent who was signed by Ken Holland on a two-year contract worth $775k annually. Connor Brown was signed to a one-year contract with a guaranteed $775k salary and a potential for $3.25 million in performance bonuses.
Connor Brown recently spent his 2022-23 season in a four-game stint with the Washington Capitals. Brown’s contract will be a bargain and a steal if he can hit his performance bonuses and he gets to reunite with former teammate Connor McDavid. Given the two having history, Ken Holland made a smart move bringing in Connor Brown.
Lane Pederson was not given a qualifying offer where he was able to test the unrestricted free agency market. Pederson went undrafted and has split four seasons between four NHL teams and four AHL teams. Given the right circumstances, Lane Pederson could prove to be a solid depth pickup.
