The Florida Everblades traded forward Brett Davis to the Rapid City Rush for forward Jimmy Soper.
The Dallas Stars drafted 24-year-old Oakbank, MB native Brett Davis in round six of the 2017 draft. He signed his first professional contract with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL in 2020. He played five games for the Moose before enrolling in college at the University of Manitoba, where he played two seasons, scoring 20 goals and 26 assists in 36 games. Davis signed a contract with the Florida Everblades at the beginning of the 2023-24 season. He has played in 33 games, scoring three goals and ten assists. He joins the Rush, who are last in the Mountain Division.
28-year-old Waterloo, ON native Jimmy Soper is in his fifth year as a professional. His first contract was with the Newfoundland Growlers in 2018. Before this trade, he also played for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Tulsa Oilers, and the Rapid City Rush. Soper scored seven goals and 16 assists in 55 games for the Rush this season. He has 46 goals, 73 assists, and 119 points in 219 games played in the ECHL.
The Florida Everblades host the Jacksonville Icemen on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Estero, Fla.
