The Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers have acquired restricted free agent goalie Daniil Tarasov from the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN. The Panthers are sending a 2025 fifth-round pick to Columbus. The pick is the 160th overall pick. Florida’s backup goalie from this season, Vitek Vanecek, is an unrestricted free agent, so Tarasov will serve as the backup to Sergei Bobrovsky. This also likely means Jet Greaves will serve as the backup for Elvis Merzļikins in Columbus. Tarasov this season went 7-10-2 with a 3.54 goals-against average, a .881 save percentage, and a shutout. In two games in the AHL, he went 1-1-0-0 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.96 goals-against average.
