Florida Panthers Acquire Nico Sturm from San Jose Sharks

The Florida Panthers have been active ahead of tomorrow’s trade deadline. Saturday they acquired Seth Jones, yesterday they acquired Vitek Vanecek to replace Spencer Knight who was included in the trade for Jones. Today they made a trade for the second straight day with the San Jose Sharks as they have acquired forward Nico Sturm along with a 2027 seventh-round draft pick in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick.

Nico Sturm

Sturm is in his seventh season. He started his career with the Minnesota Wild where he spent four seasons playing in 111 games recording 36 points on 20 goals and 16 assists. He was a +36 with a 51.3 faceoff percentage. The Wild traded him to the Colorado Avalanche where he played in 21 games recording three assists. He was a minus-two and had a 54.6 faceoff percentage. The Sharks signed Sturm this past offseason. In 184 games recording 52 points on 26 goals and 26 assists. He was a -42 with a 58.6 faceoff percentage.

This season in 47 games he has 13 points on seven goals and six assists. He was a minus-four and had a 62.7 faceoff percentage. In 316 career games, he has 91 points on 46 goals and 45 assists. He’s a career -37 with a 56.8 career faceoff percentage. The Panthers acquire a guy who can win faceoffs and will be a solid piece in the bottom six.
