The Boston Bruins were finally getting healthy as they head down the stretch to the playoffs, but the unexpected has begun to happen. With 23 games left in the regular season, the Bruins were in Calgary to wrap up a road trip. The Bruins are down a player without forward Taylor Hall, who returned to Boston with his own lower-body injury. Luckily the Bruins have depth thanks to their newest addition in Garnet Hathaway and depth forward AJ Greer, who has been on the roster all season.
Unfortunately for the Bruins, they have suffered another blow as forward Nick Foligno required assistance to get off the ice during the second period of the game against Calgary. Foligno collided with a Flames player along the boards suffering knee-to-knee contact, and was in immediate pain.
Foligno went directly to the locker room following the collision as the injury looked severe. To start the third, Foligno was nowhere to be seen as he remained in the locker room with the medical staff.
The Bruins have officially ruled the veteran forward out for the rest of the game, as they will be cautious and play it safe while they evaluate him for further injury. It’s too early to say what exactly is wrong with Foligno, as that information will likely come from the team tomorrow. For now, all that is known is that he will be out with a lower-body injury.
