Former Atlanta Gladiators Thriving in International Leagues: 2024-25 Season Highlights

As the ECHL’s deadline for players to head overseas passed on February 15, we took the opportunity to check in on some former Atlanta Gladiators who are now making their mark in various leagues around the world. From the ice rinks of Slovakia to the bustling arenas of the DEL2, these players have continued to shine and showcase their talents. Here’s an update on their current seasons and achievements.

Mitch Fossier

Mitch Fossier is currently with the Nottingham Panthers in the EIHL.  So far in the 2024-25 season, he has played 28 games, scoring 12 goals and 18 assists, totaling 30 points. Here are some videos and highlights of Fossier we found [Credit: Nottingham Panthers]

Fossier joined the Nottingham Panthers for the 2024-25 Elite League season after an impressive stint in the ECHL, where he consistently scored over a point per game. He has also played in the AHL with the Providence Bruins and San Jose Barracuda.

Gustavs Davis Grigals

Gustavs Davis Grigals, or “Goose” among many Atlanta fans, is currently playing for HK Dukla Trenčín in Slovakia. In the 2024-25 season, he has played 29 games, with a goals-against average (GAA) of 2.41 and a save percentage of .928. His record stands at 13 wins, 16 losses.

In March 2024, he signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Nashville Predators. This contract allowed him to split his time between the NHL and the AHL, playing for the Milwaukee Admirals. Before signing with the Predators, Grigals played most of the 2023-24 season for the Atlanta Gladiators, where he posted a 7-15-0 record with a 3.68 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.

Michal Mrázik

Michal Mrázik returned to his native Slovakia to play for HK Poprad in the 2024-25 after taking the 2023-24 season off to recover from injuries. He previously played for the Atlanta Gladiators and had a brief appearance in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners. So far in the 2024-25 season, he has played 30 games, scoring 10 goals and 15 assists, for a total of 25 points.

Michael Pelech

Michael Pelech started the 2024-25 season with the Glasgow Clan in the EIHL, where he played 14 games, scoring one goal. Highlights from Glasgow Clan – Some highlights from his time with the Glasgow Clan.

He then moved to UTE in the Erste Liga on November 27, 2024. Since joining UTE, he has played 16 games, scoring four goals and providing six assists, totaling 10 points, with a plus/minus rating of -4. In the 2023-24 season, Pelech played for the Glasgow Clan in the EIHL, where he served as an alternate captain (“A”). He played 41 games, scoring 18 goals and providing 19 assists, totaling 37 points.

Michael Pelech has indeed set some impressive records in the ECHL. He holds the record for the most career games played in the league, with a total of 884 games. This record highlights his durability and consistency over a long career, playing for multiple teams including Ontario, Toledo, Cincinnati, Utah, Norfolk, Reading, Greenville, Wheeling, Indy, and of course, Atlanta.

Additionally, Pelech had accumulated significant career points in the ECHL, with 208 goals and 478 assists, totaling 686 points. Even though he is no longer playing in the ECHL, his records and impact on the league continue to be recognized.

Sang Hoon Shin

Sang Hoon Shin has been making waves in the 2024-25 season with his impressive play across different leagues. Starting earlier this season with the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL, Shin has played sixteen games, scoring five goals and four assists, totaling nine points, with a plus/minus rating of minus two and four penalty minutes.

He then moved to Zaglebie Sosnowiec in Poland, where he continues to shine, playing seven games and contributing two goals and three assists, adding up to five points, along with four penalty minutes.

Looking back at the 2023-24 season, Shin had a standout year with HL Anyang in the Asia League. He played 32 games, scoring sixteen goals and eighteen assists, totaling 34 points, with a plus/minus rating of 43 and nineteen penalty minutes. During the playoffs, he added one goal and one assist in four games. Representing South Korea, Shin played in the Olympic Qualifiers (OGQ), where he scored one goal and one assist in three games. In the World Championship Division 1A (WC D1A), he was a key player, scoring four goals and one assist in five games. Overall, in international play, he tallied seven goals and four assists in eleven games.

In the 2022-23 season, Shin also played for HL Anyang, where he scored three goals and three assists in ten games, showcasing his consistent performance. Prior to that, Shin played for the Atlanta Gladiators during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. He made a significant impact during his time with the team, recording 74 points (43 goals, 31 assists) in 101 games.

Bode Wilde 

Bode Wilde is currently playing for EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL2. So far in the 2024-25 season, he has played 40 games, scoring 6 goals and providing 19 assists, totaling 25 points.

In the 2023-24 season, Wilde played for HC Banská Bystrica in Slovakia, where he played 21 games, scoring two goals and seven assists, totaling nine points. He also played for the Cardiff Devils in the EIHL, where he played 36 games, scoring six goals and 22 assists, totaling 28 points. During the playoffs he took part in four games, scoring one goal and providing two assists, totaling three points.

Wilde was drafted by the New York Islanders in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft and has played in various leagues, including the ECHL, AHL and EIHL.
