Fort Wayne Komets Sign Two Quebeckers

The Fort Wayne Komets have had a busy off-season already prior to this week as they’ve announced a new head coach and assistant coach, signed four players, and signed one to a tryout. Today they made two more moves as forward Shawn Boudrias returns for his third season, and goaltender Francois Brassard signs with the Komets. Brassard joins the Komets after spending last season with the Maine Mariners, where he went 17-14-1 with a 2.73 GAA, .903 GAA, and one shutout in 33 games. The Quebec goaltender also had a goalie goal on December 18th vs Adirondack Thunder; ironically, Ryan Fanti who was the Komets goaltender last year, also recorded a goalie goal as well as a fight. Brassard has spent six years in the ECHL, putting up a record of 47-37-6 with a 2.59 GAA, .907 SV%, and three shutouts; he also won Goaltender Of The Year in 2022.

Shawn Bourdrias will be entering his third season with the Komets in scoring last year, scoring 33 goals and 32 assists for 65 points in 68 games, he has 100 goals and 111 assists for 211 points in 323 games. Boudrias, at 6’5, 223lbs, is exactly the kind of player Jesse Kallechy is looking for, as the Komets are expected to be a big team that won’t be afraid to throw around the body, which is exactly what Komets hockey has been. Boudrias should be one of the names to take the Komets Captaincy after Anthony Petruzzelli, who spent the prior two seasons as the Komets captain is heading to the UK for next season.
