USA picked up a 6-1 win on Thursday in their first game of the tournament. They got goals from Matt Boldy, Jake Guentzel, and two from Matthew Tkachuk as well as his brother Brady Tkachuk. Connor Hellebuyck got the start stopping 20 of the 21 shots he faced.

Team Canada News & Notes:

Canada started the tournament with a 4-3 overtime win over Sweden. However, they suffered a loss as Shea Theodore has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament with an upper-body injury. Canada got goals from Nathan MacKinnon, Brad Marchand, Mark Stone, and Mitch Marner, who scored the game-winner. Jordan Binnington turned aside 23 of the 26 shots he faced in the win.
