Team USA News & Notes:

The United States is the favorite to win the tournament. They have the most complete team in the tournament and despite losing Quinn Hughes they still have some solid blue line play. The offense will be a lot of fun to watch as this team can seemingly score at will with the names they have. The goaltending will be the key with the reigning Vezina Trophy winner in net, in Connor Hellebuyck.

Team Finland News & Notes:

Finland is a big underdog in this tournament, but they are a team that can’t be overlooked. Losing Miro Heiskanen weakens them on defense, but they have some talent offensively. The question is how the goaltending will perform with a unit led by Juuse Saros, but they also have Kevin Lankinen who has had a good season as well and that’s with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen likely to be scratched to start the tournament.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
