Washington Capitals Notes:

The Capitals dropped their first preseason game 6-2 to Philadelphia Sunday. Andrew Cristall and Ivan Miroshnichenko were the goal scorers. Goaltenders Hunter Shepard and Clay Stephenson each made 11 saves on 14 shots in the loss.

Boston Bruins Notes:

The Bruins lost their exhibition opener 3-2 to the New York Rangers Sunday. Cole Koepke and Trevor Kuntar scored the goals for Boston. Goaltenders Brandon Bussi and Michael DiPietro split time in net. Bussi made 10 saves on 12 shots and DiPietro made nine stops on 10 shots for the Bruins.

Washington Capitals –

Veteran forward Tom Wilson makes his preseason debut. Newcomer Pierre Luc Dubois will also see time for the Capitals.

Boston Bruins –

Prospects Georgii Merkulov and Fabian Lysell will get a second look for Boston after each forward played around 15 minutes with no shots combined in the first preseason game. Forward Tyler Johnson makes his first appearance as he tries to make the Bruins roster with a PTO.
