Red Wings Player to Watch: Moritz Seider

Seider this season has played in 69 games, and he has recorded 37 points on eight goals and 29 assists. He has 17 points on the power play on three goals and 14 assists. Seider needs to find the toughness he was playing with earlier this season for this one in what is a big game for the Red Wings and their season.

Seider’s Line Assignments

Seider will be on the top defensive pairing with Ben Chiarot. He is also on the first power play group with Lucas Raymond, Robby Fabbri, Patrick Kane, and Alex DeBrincat. He is also on the first penalty kill unit with J.T. Compher, Christian Fischer, and Chiarot.

Seider’s career vs. Islanders

Raymond in his career against the Islanders in eight games has six points on a goal and five assists. He had two assists in the game against them back in October.

Between The Pipes

Detroit: James Reimer (8-7-2, 2.98 GAA)

Reimer last played on Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, and he got the win stopping 32 of the 35 shots he faced. In his career against the Islanders, he is 8-3-2.

New York: Ilya Sorokin (22-17-11, 3.03 GAA)

Sorokin last played on Tuesday against the Hurricanes, and he suffered the loss giving up three goals on 33 shots. In his career against the Red Wings, he is 4-1-2, he lost his first matchup against them this season but beat them on February 29th.

Wrap Up

The Red Wings are a cause for concern right now despite the win the other night they were down for a majority of the game, but they found a way to come out with two points could that be season-turning? That remains to be seen but they need to figure things out with 13 games including tonight, they need to find a way to come away with points in those games, this game tonight is a big one as the Islanders currently sit three points behind the Red Wings for the final playoff spot and a win tonight could potentially change things for Detroit. Also picking up at least a point tonight for the Red Wings will be beneficial with the Capitals who sit one point behind Detroit still after a loss to Toronto last night have a tough matchup against the Hurricanes tomorrow night, two points could also help but the goal is at least one tonight.

In their last ten games against the Islanders, Detroit is 4-6-0, and have been outscored by the Islanders 35-22 in those ten games. Detroit and the Islanders have split the first two games with Detroit winning 4-3 in overtime in October and the Islanders winning 5-3 in February.
