Game Preview: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Ottawa Senators | 02/10/2024

Ottawa, ON – The Leafs and Senators face-off tonight in the Battle of Ontario as the Leafs look to start gaining some momentum in the second half of the season, while the Senators look to start saving a seemingly lost season.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Battle of Ontario has actually been a battle this year, with the Senators coming on top 2 out of the 3 games. The Leafs will look to even that out tonight with a chance to pull further into a playoff spot. The Senators have been on the other end of things standings wise, not living up to the aspirations they’ve had going into the season.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (26-15-8)

3rd in the Atlantic, 11th in the NHL

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • William Lagesson draws into the lineup tonight after an extended period of time out of the lineup. Giordano has a low body injury, while Timmins is sick, so Lagesson gets the call. Lagesson will look to have a strong game tonight and make an impact defensively.
  • Nick Robertson’s name has come up a bit more in trade rumours as of late and the scoring forward has shown a lot more potential this season. He still is just 22 years old and will look to drown out the noise on rumours and play a solid game tonight.
  • Martin Jones is the projected starter for tonight’s game. I imagine the team wants to keep him up to speed, but the solid play of Samsonov has made it harder for Jones to get starts. Look for Jones to quickly shake off the rust and help the Leafs in net.
