HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs are facing off against the Jets for the second time this season, their last meeting coming Wednesday of this past week at Scotiabank Arena. The Leafs will be playing in Winnipeg tonight and will look to sweep the home-and-home series against the Jets, after winning 1-0 in overtime last game. This game looks like it will be a bit more dangerous for the Jets, as they may have Morrissey and Vilardi back in the lineup. The Leafs will have to push through with less depth as Jarnkrok is out of the lineup with a broken knuckle The Jets will also have Hellebuyck in net tonight.

Leafs Projected Lines:

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Ryan Reaves draws back into the lineup for the first time since mid-December after reportedly being healthy for a couple of weeks now. I don’t think the intention was initially to bring Reaves back in the lineup but with McMann and Jarnkrok both out the Leafs seemingly had their decision made for them. Reaves will need to make an impact on tonight’s game.
  • Mark Giordano draws back into the lineup after a couple of games out of the lineup. Giordano feels fresh as he had time off earlier this season due to a sustained injury, but there were some mistakes he was making on the ice that led to him being scratched. Look for him to have a strong showing tonight.
  • Tyler Bertuzzi is back with the Leafs after being away from the team last game and for a few days as he and his wife were expecting the birth of their second child. They haven’t announced the birth of their child, but hopefully, with Bertuzzi being back with the team it means he now has a newborn baby. Bertuzzi has played relatively well this season but hasn’t been able to convert on as much offense as expected. Watch for Bertuzzi to play a strong game tonight.
