Red Wings Player to Watch: Lucas Raymond

Raymond is in his third season, and so far, in 13 games, he has ten points coming on four goals and six assists. He has two points on the power play coming on a goal and an assist.

Raymond’s Line Assignments

Raymond will play on the first line with Dylan Larkin and Alex DeBrincat. Raymond also plays on the second power-play unit with Andrew Copp, J.T. Compher, Daniel Sprong, and Moritz Seider.

Raymond’s career vs. Blue Jackets

In his career against Columbus, he has played in seven games and recorded ten points on four goals and six assists. Earlier this season, he recorded a point coming on an assist in the matchup.

Between the Pipes:

Detroit: Ville Husso (5-3-1, 3.57 GAA)

Husso this season is 5-3-1, and he got the start on Tuesday against the Rangers, taking the loss, stopping 27 of the 32 shots he faced. In his career against the Blue Jackets, he has made five starts; in those starts, he is 3-2-0 and has given up 15 goals on 141 shots. He faced Columbus three times last year, going 2-1-0, allowing seven goals on 87 shots.

Columbus: Spencer Martin (1-3-1, 2.90 GAA)

Martin started on Thursday against Dallas and took a loss, allowing four goals on 30 shots. In his career against the Red Wings, Martin has made two starts, going 0-2-0, stopping 44 of the 53 shots he has faced. He faced Detroit a few weeks ago and took the loss, allowing four goals on 28 shots.

Wrap Up

The Red Wings have not been playing great hockey as of late; since they started the seasons 5-1-0, they have gone 2-4-2, and they are bunched up with a bunch of other teams for second place in the Atlantic Division instead of having had a chance to create some distance. Over the last few games, they have seen production from their first line take a dip, but the fourth line has seen some recent success. For the Red Wings to get back on a roll before things unravel entirely, they will need production from every aspect of their offense, which needs to start in today’s game.

In their last ten games against Columbus, the Red Wings are 5-3-2 and outscored them 37-26. The Red Wings this season is 1-0-0 against the Blue Jackets as they shut them out a month ago, winning 4-0.
