Red Wings Player to Watch: Shayne Gostisbehere

Gostisbehere has played in 19 games this season and recorded 18 points, coming on five goals and 13 assists. He has ten power play points coming on two goals and eight assists. In his last five games, he has recorded nine points on two goals and seven points; he also has six points on a goal and five assists in his previous two games.

Gostisbehere’s Line Assignments

Gostisbehere has been playing on the first defensive pairing with Moritz Seider due to Jake Walman being out, but he will be back on the third pairing today with Olli Maatta. Gostisbehere is also on the first power play unit with JT Compher, Alex DeBrincat, David Perron, and Lucas Raymond.

Gostisbehere’s career vs. New York

In his career against New York, he has played 30 games and recorded 15 points on three goals and 12 assists. He didn’t record a point in the matchup earlier this season.

Between The Pipes

Detroit: Ville Husso (7-3-1, 3.47 GAA)

Husso’s last start came Saturday against Boston, where he got the win, stopping 25 of the 27 shots he faced. In his career against the Rangers, he has made five starts; in those starts, he is 2-3-0 and has given up 20 goals on 153 shots. He faced the Rangers a few weeks back and took the loss, allowing five goals on 32 shots.

New York: Igor Shesterkin (8-4-0, 2.59 GAA)

Shesterkin’s last start came on Monday, in which he allowed four goals on 38 shots in a 5-1 loss to Buffalo. Shesterkin, in his career against the Red Wings, has made four appearances, going 3-0-1, stopping 92 of the 98 shots he has faced.

Wrap Up:

The Detroit Red Wings will look to continue their three-game winning streak. Still, it won’t be easy against the best team in the Eastern Conference to this point in the season, and on top of that, the Red Wings will also be without their captain as Dylan Larkin will not play in this one; however, they do get Jake Walman back on the defense. The Rangers also deal with their losses as they won’t have Kaapo Kakko either.

In their last ten games against New York, the Red Wings are 3-6-1 and have been outscored 37-22. The Red Wings lost the matchup to the Rangers on November 7th, 5-3 in Madison Square Garden.
