Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars: Finding Value and a Lock in Series Props

Photo via AXS.com

It is playoff time! The only thing better than celebrating a Vegas Golden Knights victory is heading to the window after the game to cash a ticket! Here’s a list of betting props from DraftKings Sportsbook that I like.

Series Winner, Golden Knights, +120

This is bizarre, and also a homer pick. I can not recall the lowest seed being nearly a coin flip to defeat the top side from a betting perspective. If you believe the light is about to turn on for the Golden Knights, plus-120 is an absolute steal.

The Golden Knights eliminated the Stars in six games in last year’s NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and swept the season series. Two of the three games went to overtime.

Golden Knights in Six, +500, and Golden Knights in Seven, +600

There is value on the board by taking a shot at predicting the exact outcome of the Series. In the 2022 and 2023 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, fourteen of the sixteen first-round matchups went six or seven games.

If you believe the Golden Knights are going to defeat the Stars in the first round, try betting Vegas to win the Series in six or seven games. If the Golden Knights have a 3-1 series lead heading into game five, you can always hedge the Golden Knights to win that game on the road as an underdog.

Jonathan Marchessault to Record 5+ Goals in the Series, +500

We are chasing the value on this one. Marchessault scored 42 goals in the regular season. The soon-to-be unrestricted free agent and last year’s Conn Smythe winner can score in bunches. If this Series goes six or seven games, there is a good chance that Marchessault has at least five goals.

Most Goals in Series, Marchessault +500, Barbashev +3000

Marchessault is a chalky play, but the return is nice if he goes on a run. Ivan Barbashev is more of a hunch type of play, and I like the return. Jack Eichel and Marchessault are going to draw most of the attention from the Stars’ defense, which may open up opportunities for Barbashev.

Stars Win Game One, Golden Knights Win Series, +425

This is a fun bet! The Golden Knights will ice a lineup in game one that has never been iced during the 2023-24 regular season. Mark Stone is making his return after a long layoff. Chandler Stephenson has missed the last few regular season games. Anthony Mantha may miss game one. Will Carrier could return after a long layoff.

The point is that there is a good chance the Stars will win game one easily, and the Golden Knights will get better as the Series goes on, just like what happened against the Winnipeg Jets in last year’s NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Value Play: Eichel to Record 5+ Shots on Goal in Every Game, +4000

Eichel averaged 3.32 shots on goal during the 2022-23 regular season and 3.22 shots on goal in the 2022-23 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Eichel has always been a pass-first type of player.

That changed a bit during the 2023-24 regular season. Eichel averaged 4.41 shots on goal in the 2023-24 regular season. It is worth sprinkling some of your bankroll on Eichel logging five or greater shots in every game of round one.

Lock: Marchessault to Record 2+ Goals in Any Game, +150

Lock it up, last year’s Conn Smythe winner will have at least one game this Series in which he records two or more goals. See you at the window!
