The Montreal Canadiens won their second straight and remained perfect at the Bell Centre.
Two minutes into the game, the Montreal Canadiens opened the scoring as Josh Anderson buried a loose puck past Connor Ingram, who got the start for the Arizona Coyotes. Less than three minutes later, the Habs doubled their lead as Cole Caufield forced a turnover and fired a quick shot that beat Ingram.
Brendan Gallagher made it 3-0 when he managed to score on a two-on-one, and the Habs had scored three goals on four shots less than 10 minutes into the game. The visitors started fighting back, getting good scoring chances, but Jake Allen, back from having his third child, made some key saves.
The first period finished with the Habs outshooting their opponents 11-5 in a game where they were in full control.
The Canadiens kept looking for more in the second period, but Ingram did his best to shut the door. Montreal made it 4-0 when Juraj Slafkovsky, with a powerful wrist shot, scored his first NHL goal by beating Ingram five-hole.
With 1:33 left in the second period, Nick Suzuki was taken down on a breakaway, and the ref pointed to the center dot, meaning a penalty shot, and Suzuki beat Ingram with a cheeky move to make it 5-0 for the Habs.
The Coyotes made it 5-1 six minutes into the third period as JJ Moser beat Allen with a one-timer from the top of the circle. Two minutes later, Arizona added another as Travis Boyd got a great pass from Lawson Crouse and tipped the puck past Allen.
Sean Monahan made it 6-2 with three minutes left in regulation as Arizona had pulled Ingram, and Monahan scored into an empty net. The final horn sounded, and the Canadiens had kept their perfect home streak intact.
