Idaho Steelheads Defenseman Signs Overseas in Germany

Idaho Steelheads defenseman Cody Haiskanen has signed with the Nurnberg Ice Tigers in Nurnberg, Germany of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for the 2024-25 season.

Collegiate Career

Cody Haiskanen started his collegiate career at Cornell University in the 2019-20 season and played five seasons at Cornell. Haiskanen played in 105 games at Cornell, where he had four goals and 14 assists for 18 points. He had 38 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +25. In the 2020-21 season, Haiskanen earned an “A” but due to COVID, the season was cancelled. After finishing his collegiate career, Haiskanen signed with the Idaho Steelheads at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.

ECHL Career

In the 2022-23 season, Haiskanen played in 61 games with the Idaho Steelheads, where he had five goals and 24 assists for 29 points. He had 33 goals and a plus/minus of +53. He then played 19 playoff games with the Steelheads, where he had one goal and one assist for two points. He had ten penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1. Haiskanen re-signed with the Steelheads for the 2023-24 season and played in 28 games, where he had two goals and 11 assists for 13 points. He had ten penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +14.

AHL Career

In the 2023-24 season, Haiskanen had three different AHL teams call him up. He played for the Ontario Reign, San Jose Barracuda, and Texas Stars. Haiskanen played in 30 AHL games where he had three goals and four assists for seven points. He had six penalty minutes and a plus/minus of 0.
