The Manitoba Moose announced yesterday that the team has signed forward Jaydon Dureau to a one-year contract through the 2025-26 season.

The White City, Saskatchewan-born forward split time between the American Hockey Leagues (AHL) Syracuse Crunch and the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears in the 2024-25 season. He posted three points (1G, 2A) in 16 games for the Syracuse Crunch and added 29 more (14G, 15A) in 33 games with the Orlando Solar Bears.

Dureau, 24, has posted 73 points (29G, 44A) in 103 career ECHL games, all with Orlando. He’s posted just seven points (3G, 4A) in 77 career AHL games, all with Syracuse.

Before he turned pro, the 6-foot left winger played five seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He posted 196 points (65G, 131A) in 207 games with the Winterhawks.

This was enough to impress NHL scouts as it helped him get drafted by an NHL team. The Tampa Bay Lightning drafted Dureau in the fifth round (147th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

While Dureau is expected to get some playing time with the Moose this season, he will likely spend the majority of the 2025-26 season playing with Manitoba’s ECHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals.

Dureau is going to provide necessary injury and call up insurance for the Moose. If his training camp with the team takes off, he could earn himself an opening night roster spot with Manitoba.

The Moose open their 2025-26 season at home on Friday, October 10th, with an all-Canadian clash against the Laval Rocket.
