The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced that they have come to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Tanner Jeannot. Jeannot was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, and signed with the Nashville Predators on April 2nd, 2018 but wouldn’t make his NHL debut until the 2020-21 season.
Jeannot, who’s a rough-and-tumble forward, played his first complete NHL season as a full-time player in the 2021-22 season. Jeannot posted career highs in goals (24), assists (17), points (41), and penalty minutes (130) in his 2021-22 campaign. Jeannot would then play 56 games with the Nashville Predators before being acquired via trade by the Tampa Bay Lightning on February 26th, 2023.
Tanner Jeannot was traded for Cal Foote, a 2023 third-round pick, a 2023 fourth-round pick, a 2025 fifth-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick, and a 2025 first-round pick. Essentially, the Tampa Bay Lightning gave up an entire draft class for one NHL player.
Jeannot signed a two-year contract extension worth $2.665 million annually on July 15th, 2023. Jeannot will be an unrestricted free agent when his contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season.
