On August 21st, Jonathan Bernier announced his retirement via a post on Instagram. The 35-year-old goaltender spent 14 seasons in the NHL as he was drafted by the Los Angeles 11th overall in the 2006 NHL Draft and spent five seasons with the Kings, including winning a Stanley Cup with the Kings in 2012, but in 2016 he’d get traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he spent three years with the team before bouncing around to the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Detroit Red Wings, before finishing with the New Jersey Devils. Bernier had struggled with injuries ever since he joined the Devils. He only saw action in 10 games over the past two seasons due to a hip injury that had kept him sidelined since the beginning of the 2021-22 season and enviably ended his career. His best season came during his year with the Ducks, where he put up a 21-7-4 record with a 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%, and two shutouts. Throughout his career, Bernier played in 404 NHL games putting up a record of 165-163-40 with a 2.78 GAA, .912 SV%, and two shutouts and his best season came during his year with the Ducks, where he put up a 21-7-4 record with a 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%, and two shutouts.
