Jost Re-Joins Buffalo As UFA, Inks One-Year Deal

The NHL free agency is finally upon us, which means it’s open season on locking up contracts. Today the Buffalo Sabres announced they had agreed to terms with free agent forward Tyson Jost. It is a one year, $2 million contract that keeps him signed through the end of the 2023-2024 season. Jost recently registered 22 points in 59 games for the Sabres last season, after joining the team following a short stint with the Minnesota Wild. This signing comes after the Sabres announced that they did not extend a qualifying offer to Jost on Friday, June 30th. However not extending the qualifying offer to Jost gave the Sabres’ front office a chance to re-sign him as an unrestricted free agent, and with a discount, as Jost made $2.25 million last season. Previously the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Jost played 71 games between Minnesota and Buffalo last season. His 18 assists on the year set a new career high.
