After last night’s game against the Florida Panthers, the Minnesota Wild have had to make a few roster changes. Both Marc-Andre Fleury and Connor Dewar left the game with injuries during the second period. The Wild have recalled Jake Lucchini and moved Dewar to IR with a lower-body injury. They have also recalled Jesper Wallstedt while Fleury is out with an upper-body injury. They have also reassigned Daemon Hunt to the Iowa Wild to make roster room.
Dewar was hip-checked and tossed head over heels onto the ice. He headed down the tunnel afterward and it was later announced that he would not return to the game. He is expected to be out with injury for a few weeks.
Lucchini has played 4 games for the Minnesota Wild this season. In the 28 games that he’s played with the Iowa Wild this season, he has 22 points (11 goals and 11 assists).
Fleury was clipped by Panther’s player William Lockwood early in last night’s game. While he stayed in the game and tried to fight through an upper-body injury, he did leave the ice partway through the second period and headed down the tunnel.
Wallstedt played his first NHL game against the Dallas Stars on January 10th. After a tough loss, he has said that he is hungry for his next NHL game. During his time in Iowa this season, he has played 21 games. His seasonlong goals against average is 2.61 and he has a .916 save percentage. He was named AHL Player of the Week twice in November and has been named to the AHL All-Stars Team.
The Wild play one last game on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
