Kevin Hayes Traded to St. Louis Blues

Philadelphia Flyers Forward Kevin Hayes will be heading to St Louis in exchange for the Blues 6th Round Draft Pick in 2024. The Flyers will also retain 50% of the 31-year-old center’s salary as part of the deal. It was rumored that Tory Krug was going to be a part of this deal. However, his no-trade clause gives him full veto power to strike down any term he does not agree with.

Hayes was a first-round pick in 2010 and spent the last four seasons with Philadelphia where last season, even with the team finishing 31-38-13, Hayes tallied the most assists and was second in points for the Flyers while also having his personal best season in both categories as well.

For such a late-round pick for a rebuilding team and Hayes coming off such a great season, and the Flyers are retaining half of the salary, this deal seems too good to be true.

With this deal, the Flyers continue their rebuild, and about $3.5 of cap space is left for the Blues in the off-season… and all eyes continue to be on Doug Armstrong.
