LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Kings announced a player extension today of Arthur Kaliyev. As the rookie faceoff concluded, with training camp approaching, the Kings are building up their roster before the regular season begins.
Kaliyev, 23, 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, participated in 51 games for the Kings last season. In those 51 games he played, the winger notched 15 points from seven goals and eight assists — which was his third straight 15-point season in the NHL. Originally a 33rd overall, second-round pick by the Kings during the 2019 NHL draft, the winger has spent the last four seasons with the organization. The most games he’s played for the Kings was during the 2021-22 season, when he participated in 80 games and notched 14 goals and 13 assists.
In the season prior to that, during his inaugural NHL season, Kaliyev played in a single game for the Kings while spending the majority of the season for the Ontario Reign. For his only season in the American Hockey League and with the Reign, the winger played in 40 games, accumulating 31 points from 14 goals and 17 assists. During that season, Kaliyev also participated in the U20 World Junior Cup for Team USA, where he participated in seven games. From those seven games in the tournament, the winger contributed three goals and five assists.
In addition, he won a gold medal from that contest for Team USA. The U20 tournament was no unfamiliar contest to the then-18-year-old, however, as he participated in five games during the 2019–20 season for Team USA. The campaign during the tournament came during his final OHL season for the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Kaliyev will be entering his fifth season under the Kings’ organisation. After skating in 188 contests in the NHL so far, the winger has accumulated 35 goals and 36 assists.
