Leafs Face Treliving’s Former Team: Leafs Game Preview 14

After yet another frustrating loss, mostly due to poor defensive play, the Leafs are back, and tonight it’s against the Flames. Woll will get the start as he looks to rebound and have a better effort as well. Klingberg, who many fans have complained about is out tonight with an injury. There’s lots to break down below so let’s waste no time.

Leafs Projected Lineup

Three Things to Look Out For

McCabe

Jake McCabe is back from injury tonight and it’s looking as if he won’t be eased back into action as he slots into a top 4 role immediately. McCabe hasn’t looked great this season yet after having great analytics last year on Chicago. McCabe has some offensive and defensive skills and can use his body too. We haven’t seen these traits that much yet with Toronto, but let’s hope we start seeing that soon as he’s now back from injury.

Benoit

Benoit is interesting here as he had an atrocious pre-season with the Leafs but looked great in his first game with the Leafs. It’s much too small of a sample size but the physical defenseman will look to play a simple game and just focus on one play at a time. Keep an eye on Benoit tonight, as many try to gauge where he fits on this team.

Reaves

Ryan Reaves hasn’t had a great start so far with the Leafs this season. The “enforcer” known for his hits and fights hasn’t shown all that much of either of those and has been a defensive liability. Reaves will look to contribute on a goal tonight or at least not have goals go in against his line as he’s on the verge of being a healthy scratch.

Tonight’s game starts at 7 p.m. EST on TSN!
