Logan Stankoven Signs Eight-Year Extension in Carolina

There will be eight more years of Logan Stankoven in Carolina.

The 22-year-old centre was entering the final year of his entry-level contract and was set to be a restricted free agent at the end of the 2025-26 season.

The Carolina Hurricanes and Stankoven avoid any contract standoff with the new contract.

Stankoven, hailing from Kamloops, British Columbia, was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline in a deal that sent Mikko Rantanen to the Dallas Stars.

Stankoven made an immediate impact in Carolina, posting nine points (5G, 4A) in 19 games and adding to his career high point total of 38 points (14G, 24A) in 78 games played between the Hurricanes and Stars.

Drafted in the second round (47th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Stankoven wouldn’t make his NHL debut until the 2023-24 season. He split time between the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and the Dallas Stars in the NHL before transitioning to the NHL full-time in 2024-25.

To date, Stankoven has 52 points (20G, 32A) in 102 career NHL games and has added 16 points (8G, 8A) in 34 playoff games.

Before he made his jump to professional hockey, Stankoven enjoyed five successful seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers. His final two seasons with the Blazers were the most successful, nearly posting back-to-back 100-point seasons.

Stankoven will be 31 when his new contract expires at the end of the 2033-34 season.
