Los Angeles Kings Sign Defenseman

The Los Angeles Kings have been active this offseason having traded Pierre-Luc Dubois for Darcy Kuemper and trading away Carl Grundstrom and adding Kyle Burroughs. Today they signed another defenseman as they beef up their blue line by signing Joel Edmundson to a four-year $3.8M AAV.

D – Joel Edmundson

Edmundson was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft with the 46th overall selection. He spent his first four seasons with the Blues playing in 269 games he had 52 points on 13 goals and 39 assists; he was a plus 18, had 248 penalty minutes, and 531 hits. He would be traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in September of 2019, he would spend the 2019-20 season there playing in 68 games recording 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists; he was a plus seven, had 72 penalty minutes, and 118 hits.

Carolina would trade him to Montreal in September of 2020 where he would play in 140 games recording 32 points on eight goals and 24 assists; he was a minus-two, had 118 penalty minutes, and 271 hits. He would then join the Washington Capitals where he spent last season before they traded him to the Toronto Maple Leafs, between the two teams last year he played in 53 games recording six points on one goal and five assists; he was a minus two, had 23 penalty minutes, and 80 hits. The Kings are getting some toughness to add to their blue line.
