Defenseman Connor Mackey and the New York Rangers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $775k annually. Mackey is a big left-shot defenseman who most recently split his 2022-23 season between the Calgary Flames and the Arizona Coyotes.
Mackey is a great defensive depth option for the New York Rangers who are always looking to add talented defensemen. Mackey spent his 2022-23 season playing ten games for Calgary, scoring two goals and one assist for three points. Mackey followed this up with 20 games in Arizona where he scored one goal and three assists for four points and seven total in his 30 games.
In Mackey’s 39-game career, he’s posted four goals and seven assists for 11 points, Mackey also has a total of 70 penalty minutes. For the Stockton Heat of the AHL for the 2021-22 season, Mackey scored five goals and 31 assists for 36 points in 53 games, Mackey also has 83 penalty minutes that year.
While Connor Mackey is more likely to be a seventh-defenseman option as his contract is a two-way deal, Mackey can prove to the Rangers that he will be the fit they need.
Connor Mackey will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2023-24 season.
