Malcolm Subban traded to Buffalo for…

Malcolm Subban

Malcolm Subban is on the move again, and the Chicago Blackhawks have traded Subban to the Buffalo Sabers for future considerations. This is a much-needed move for the organization. Rockford, Chicago’s AHL team, had a clog at the goaltending position. Rockford will now be free to split the net between Arvid Soderblom and Collin Delia, both young players Chicago wants to see grow.

Subban originally came to Chicago as a part of the Robbin Lehner trade on February 24th, 2020. This was an experiment that failed. Subban was a highly touted prospect, selected 24th overall in 2012 by the Boston Bruins. He has every intangible you’d want in a goalie from speed, flexibility, and good size but has failed to put this together at the NHL level. During his tenure with the Blackhawks, Subban would play in 17 games. Going 6-8-2 with a goal’s against of 3.20, and a save percentage of .900, finding his way on the AHL roster this season and now on to Buffalo, where Subban should get another chance to be an NHL starting goalie and live up to his draft selection. Subban is 27 years old, turning 28 in December. Best luck to Subban and his Buffalo endeavors.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
