Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele will be a game-time decision against the Jets’ game-seven winner-takes-all game on Sunday night at Canada Life Centre.
The 32-year-old forward from Kitchener, Ontario, was injured in the Jets’ game five clash against the Blues, where he did not play the second and third periods.
There are two hits in question, the first is Brayden Schenn’s high hit, he left his feet and jumped into the hit. Scheifele played a few shifts after this hit from Schenn. The second is Radek Faksa’s crushing hit into Scheifele’s chest, and it was the hit that took him out of the game.
Scheifele was seen skating in a tracksuit early on Saturday, May 3rd, and seemed to have held his own. It came out later in the day in a post-practice media availability from Scott Arniel that Scheifele felt a lot better today and will be considered a game-time decision in Sunday’s game seven.
The Jets would have all of their players off injured reserve for the first time in a long time in the 2024-25 season. Scheifele, the Jets’ first-line centre, was a 2011 seventh overall draft selection, the first in the Jets’ history after relocating from Atlanta.
Scheifele has six points (2G, 4A) in five playoff games so far. He will look to continue his impactful playing ways in his potential return to the Jets’ lineup tomorrow night.
Game seven at Canada Life Centre takes place Sunday, May 4th. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 pm CST.
