Mathew Barzal May Not Return by the End of the Regular Season

The New York Islanders will face the Vegas Golden Knights tonight and news came out yesterday that they would be without Mathew Barzal for quite a while. It was announced yesterday that he would be out indefinitely. Barzal left Saturday’s win over the Tampa Bay Lightning when he sustained a lower-body injury in the game’s final minutes. He left the game after he blocked a shot off his left kneecap. Today Islanders head coach Patrick Roy said he doesn’t know if Barzal will be back by the end of the regular season. In what has been a disappointing season for the Islanders, it’s about to be tougher with Barzal out of the lineup. This may open the door for them to sell some pieces at the trade deadline potentially.
