Matt Dumba Signs With the Arizona Coyotes

Matt Dumba signed with the Arizona Coyotes on a four-million-dollar one-year deal. Matt Dumba has played his entire career for the Minnesota Wild, finishing last season with a stat line of 4 goals and 10 assists. Coming off a rough season with the Wild, Dumba will be looking to rebuild some value on a one-year deal before entering free agency again after what should be a decent cap increase. Dumba should come in, split the PP role with Durzi, and play top pairing minutes at even strength.

The Coyotes continue to add this offseason as they look to add to their young core and take a step towards being a more competitive and fun team to watch on the ice. The Coyotes add Dumba to help fill their biggest positional need and give them more defensive depth. And if the Coyotes aren’t in a position to battle for a playoff spot or play meaningful games down the stretch, Dumba is a guy who should fetch a hefty return at the trade deadline. This add puts the Coyotes at 49/50 contract spots, with RFA Jan Jenik still unsigned. The Coyotes will likely continue to look at a few trades to open up a few more spots and have some flexibility through the season.
