LOWELL, MA. — The Boston Fleet hosted the New York Sirens Sunday Afternoon, Dec. 8, at Tsongas Center. This was the final game before the international break for the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour and the Four Nations Tournament. Heading into this game, Boston was 0-3, and New York was 3-0.
1st Period
Susanna Tapani opened the scoring for the Boston Fleet. She scored her first goal of the season at 7:31 in the first period.
By halfway into the first period, Boston already looked like a different team on the ice. They topped New York’s 5 shots on goal with 13 shots on goal by the end of the first period. It was a game of firsts for these teams. Paetyn Levis scored her first goal of the season to tie the game.
“I think it was a great faceoff. We had talked about what we were going to do going into it and we ended up executing it well. Filly (teammate Sarah Fillier) made a nice read, wide open backdoor. It was nice to put it in.”

Before time expired in the first, Boston’s fourth-round pick of the 2024 draft scored her first PWHL goal. She gave Boston the lead late in the first period.
“I’m really happy to see others put some points up. For Syd Bard, she’s someone who loves the game so much. She shows up early, leaves late. She’s always willing to get better, so really happy to see her put one in here early in the season.”

It did not take long for things to get started in the third period. Boston defender Megan Keller rips one past Schroeder to give Boston the go-ahead goal.
New York was testing Aerin Frankel all game. They especially challenged her in the third period with 14 total shots. Most time in the third was spent on Boston’s end of the rink but nothing was getting past Frankel. She was making saves left and right, even with no stick at some point. New York’s powerplay unit was their biggest upset in this game, going 1 for 6 on their powerplays. Megan Keller rips a goal from the blue line. This made it her first 2-goal game. She put this game away for Boston with an electric shipping up to Boston sequence. New York pulled Schroeder to try to tie the game. However, Boston came out on top. The final score was 4-2.
Boston’s 27 shots on goal count as the team’s highest total in three games this season. This has been their biggest struggle so far this season and during the finals last season. This was the final PWHL game before the International break. The season will resume on Dec. 12, when the Fleet host the Charge at home at 7 p.m. EST.
