Mike Robinson is Headed Overseas

The Adirondack Thunder will be without one of their goaltenders from this season as Mike Robinson is headed over to the EIHL with the Nottingham Panthers in Great Britain the same team that signed Jake Ryczek. Robinson started last season in the SPHL with the Huntsville Havoc, where he played 13 games, putting up a record of 8-3 with a 2.83 GAA and .911 SV%. Robinson was one of nine goaltenders who made an appearance in net for the Adirondack Thunder. In nine games with the Thunder, he went 4-3-2 with a 3.58 GAA and .896 SV%, it wasn’t pretty, but it was enough to get the Thunder their first Kelly Cup Playoff appearance since the 2018-19 season, and he would be named the Game 1 starter for the Thunder in the opening round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, however, game two would be a different story as he would get pulled after giving up six goals on 25 shots. Robinson would also make one appearance for the Utica Comets during the 2022-23 season.

This move doesn’t come as much of a surprise due to the number of goalies signed this offseason by the New Jersey Devils and Utica Comets, which includes Jeremy Brodeur, Erik Kallgren, Tyler Brennan, and Isaac Poulter. You also have to put into perspective that the Thunder have yet to sign a goalie for next season, but I would expect to see Brodeur or Brennan in Adirondack at some point next season once Nico Daws is healthy and returns from his injury.
