Edited 03/02: There is a new update on the health of Taylor Hall available here.
After a four-game road trip, the Boston Bruins return home to take on the Buffalo Sabres. The Bruins played three games in four nights, but that didn’t stop them from extending their win streak to eight games. After a day of rest, the Bruins will take the ice tonight at 7 pm EST at TD Garden. Unforatunly for the Bruins, they picked up two injuries while they were on the road, and it appears Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno will not suit up for tonight’s game.
Taylor Hall left the road trip early as he returned home prior to the Edmonton Oilers game on Monday night. There was no chance that Hall would play in the back-to-backs, so they chose for him to return to Boston, where he could continue to heal and rehab. He was ruled out with a lower-body injury.
On the other hand, Foligno suffered his injury Tuesday night during the second period against the Calgary Flames. Foligno collided with a Flames player along the boards and suffered a knee-to-knee collision that knocked him out of the game. There is no telling how severe the injury is, but the way it looked, it seems Foligno will miss at least a few games.
The loss of these two veterans is felt as they are two key members of the Bruins’ bottom six and on the power play. In their absence, AJ Greer will see plenty of ice time and expect the Bruins to call one of their many forwards up from Providence.
Luckily for the Boston Bruins, they have plenty of depth to weather the storm, especially after acquiring Garnet Hathway for their bottom six. This will be a test for the team as they have 19 games over the next 25 days.
