The Boston Bruins have been on fire this season, and nobody has been able to slow them down, as they now have a 37-5-4 record and 78 points. They currently sit atop the Atlantic Division and the NHL as the best team in the league. It has been a complete team effort for the Bruins as they have gotten scoring from up and down the lineup, along with solid defense and tremendous goaltending.
Jake DeBrusk has been a key member of this team, as he was having a career year before his injury at the 2023 Winter Classic. While it was a significant blow to the Bruins, it was also a test of what this team is capable of, as they have been able to overcome the loss of their top-line winger.
The hero of the Winter Classic suffered a hand and lower-body injury and was set to miss four weeks as he recovered from his fractured fibula.
With the four-week mark approaching, head coach Jim Montgomery has provided an update regarding DeBrusk’s recovery. The forward will begin skating tomorrow as he works his way back to full health. This is just the beginning, as DeBrusk must get back into playing shape.
There is no rush for his return as the Bruins have continued their winning ways without him, and the focus needs to be on him being 100 percent before returning to play.
Montgomery also mentioned that DeBrusk will not be with the team on their upcoming road trip that begins Jan 24th in Montreal and wraps up on Feb 1st in Toronto.
At this point, it seems DeBrusk will make his return following the All-Star Break, with the earliest possible game being when the Bruins resume play on Feb 11th at home against the Washington Capitals.
