The Montreal Canadiens today traded the contract of goalie Carey Price to the San Jose Sharks. The Canadiens are also sending a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Sharks in exchange for defenseman Gannon Laroque. The trade gets Price’s contract off the books for Montreal as the Sharks will take on the rest of his eight-year $10.5 million deal, which is in the final season. The Canadiens now have just over $4.56 million in cap space. The Sharks have over $9.2 million in cap space following the trade.
